2011 has brought a renewed interest in maintaining, protecting, and appreciating
the garage. The garage is the most public room of the house. Once viewed as being
separate from the living areas of the house, garages are now being transformed
into a vital extension of the family home all across America.
We, at Better Life Technology, are proud to participate in this transformation.
Roll-Out Vinyl Garage Flooring vs. Polypropylene Tile Consider Your Needs Carefully
Choosing a garage flooring product can be difficult and very time consuming. While the process of choosing a garage floor can be cumbersome, it is important that you take your time and make sure that you choose the product that is right for your job. G-Floor® from Better Life Technology has some definite advantage over other products such as snap together garage floor tiles. G-Floor garage floor mats offer a virtually seamless floor that provides a high degree of protection to the concrete below. While garage floor tiles provide an attractive appearance, most tiles have a seam every 12" to 18" where water, dirt and chemicals can seep through and stain the floor below. For example a 2 car garage measuring 20' x 24' would have one seam with the G-Floor product as opposed to 480 individual tiles with a seam on each side of each and every tile.
Installing G-Floor® is often much faster than installing a snap together tile system. While most tile systems require you to interlock them on each and every side, G-Floor garage floor mats can be laid next to each other and can often be installed in under an hour.
One final advantage of G-Floor® garage flooring is that it is constructed from flexible PVC. The PVC provides greater anti-fatigue properties than a solid tile while still being strong enough to stand up to industrial garage conditions. G-Floor is less expensive than most tiles and PVC requires a thinner layer to accomplish the same function and PVC expands and contracts less than polypropylene.
There is a lot of garage flooring on the market and everybody has different needs. If you are looking for a simple, affordable, attractive product that provides a high degree of protection to your new or old concrete slab, then G-Floor is one option that I would definitely consider.

Why should you use BLT Roll-Out Garage Flooring
instead of epoxy coatings?
1) Easier Installation
The preparation for painting an epoxy coated floor can be intensive- potentially lasting a period of days. Even then, there is no guarantee the coating will stick. Painting a garage floor involves many variables such as prep-time, humidity, temperature, dry-time, and the skill to do it. Yes, there are so called "Do-It-Yourself" Epoxy kits. However, properly painting a garage floor requires skill that does not come in a kit. And even if one has the skill, the numerous steps required for a quality garage floor paint job such as degreasing, etching, taping, drying and etc. make painting a garage floor less than practical. With BLT Roll-Out Garage Flooring®, simply unroll onto the garage floor and trim the edges with a utility knife.
2) Lower Cost
A quality professional coating company will likely charge anywhere from $5 to $15 a square foot in labor fees alone. Garage floor tile solutions will cost $4 to $6 per square foot for the tile aloneplus hourly labor charges for proper installation.
With BLT Roll-Out Garage Flooring®, material costs will be lower and labor costs will be eliminated.
3) Longer-term Durability
Once painted or tiled, these garage floor coverings are subject to chipping, peeling, cracking, scratches and hot-tire pickup. These normal "wear and tear" realities can lead to the reapplication of the paint or tile within a matter of years. BLT Roll-Out Garage Flooring has been manufactured from tough, specially formulated, polyvinyl material that will beautify in minutes and last for years.
How does G-FLOOR Roll-Out Flooring compare with other vinyl floor coverings?
BLT G-Floor is 100% high quality polyvinyl throughout the entire product. Most other floor
coverings only use high quality materials on the top 10%20% of their product and
laminate with lower-grade material that does not offer the same protection throughout.
Some products even have three layers of filler using the poorest quality materials available.
• G-Floor is superior to all other floor coverings that you can drive or walk on.
• G-Floor is solid polyvinyl and has the same resistance throughout the product top to bottom.
How does roll-out flooring work with underfloor heating systems?
What is Roll-Out Flooring?
Roll-out flooring is designed to be a quick and inexpensive method of covering a floor. Essentially, the floor covering consists of rolls of polyvinyl or rubber material, which are, quite literally, rolled onto a floor and trimmed to fit. No adhesive is required, so, if a large area is to be covered, several rolls of flooring can be purchased and the seams butted together. Roll-out flooring is durable, non-slip, often with a lightly textured surface and obviously provides protection for the floor beneath; it is therefore a popular choice not only for garage floors, but also for floors in bathrooms, laundry rooms or any heavy traffic areas where a cushioned, protective floor covering is required.
What is Underfloor Heating?
Dry, or electrical, underfloor heating works by passing electrical current through a cable which, because of its electrical resistance, becomes hot. Heating cables, either in the form of loose wire or heating mats, depending on the size and shape of the room to be heated, are installed between the subfloor and the floor covering and connected, via a thermostat, to mains supply. Heating cables and mats are available in range of output wattages, up to 200W/m2 ("Watts per square metre"), suitable for stone or tiled floors in areas of high heat loss. Electrical underfloor heating is easy to install and provides comfortable, invisible heat at a reasonable cost.
Roll-Out Flooring & Underfloor Heating
There is no problem, fundamentally, in combining roll-out flooring and underfloor heating, provided that you adhere to the manufacturers` guidelines for both products. The fact that roll-out flooring is made of polyvinyl, rubber or a similar material has a bearing on the output wattage of the underfloor heating that can be used beneath it. Polyvinyl roll-out flooring typically offers little resistance to heat transfer, which is good news as far as underfloor heating is concerned, because floor coverings with good thermal insulating properties are not suitable for use with underfloor heating systems. Nevertheless, there are two categories of vinyl, one which can withstand constant temperatures up to 26°C and the other constant temperatures up to 30°C. Rubber roll-out flooring is more thermally insulating than polyvinyl, but that still does not mean that you can install high wattage underfloor heating beneath it; the maximum surface temperature specified by manufacturers is around 27°C and you should choose your underfloor heating system accordingly.

Step-by-Step Installation Instructions
1) For best result, unpack and install product as soon as possible after delivery. The sooner product is removed from packaging, the sooner it will lay flat on garage floor after installation.
2) Sweep and clean garage floor. Wipe up any oil and chemicals from floor before rolling out product.
3) Unroll product on garage floor. Edges may be butted together or overlapped (see Overlap Note below) for seamless appearance and floor protection. Initially, the Garage Floor Protector will have curl marks due to being rolled on a core or folded in a box for shipment (this is normal).
Unroll option 1: For lay flat results, unroll Garage Floor Protector in the sunlight on a clean driveway. The warmer the conditions the quicker curls will straighten out and lay flat. Use wide push broom, push air out from center and work your way out (side to side and length to length) Repeat if necessary. Place on garage floor when desired and repeat broom out.
Unroll option 2: If you wish to unroll product directly on the garage floor, sweep garage floor clean of debris and unroll Garage Floor Protector. For best results, start unrolling process at the garage entrance; finishing at the back of the garage. Note: In cool to cold conditions it may take 72+ hours for most curl marks to lay flat depending on the temperature. Be sure to push out air with broom (It is OK to park your car on it during this time).
Overlap note:
9' wide G-Floor flooring has an "overlap flap"
(approximately 1.5" to 2" wide)
of unpatterned material running down one side.
G-Floor 9' wide or less, has no "overlap flap".
4) Allow mat to relax and lay flat. For custom fit, allow product to relax in place before trimming around edges and corners.
Note: If product is used under extreme temperature conditions, such as direct sunlight or unheated garages, the product may expand or contract as much as 2% after laying flat. For custom fit, always allow product to relax before trimming around edges and corners.
5) Trim edges with sharp scissors or utility knife.
6) Taping around edges is not necessary. This product can expand or contract up to 2% with temperature changes. It is best if the product is allowed to 'float' freely on the floor. If you choose to tape the seam between two floor protectors, we recommend using indoor-outdoor carpet tape.
Note: In exterior and commercial applications we recommend securing our materials to the floor using a pressure sensitive vinyl adhesive.
Note: Due to the manufacturing process, patterns of two pieces of flooring may not match or align exactly along the seam when two mats are laid side by side.
Product Cleaning and Care of BLT Roll-Out Garage Flooring
Surface is easily washed with soap and water. Product can be easily washed off inside or outside of garage. Brush or sweep with
cool water using a broom or sponge squeegee. Mild soaps and normal household detergents may be used. Do not leave harsh
detergents or chemicals on product or wash into sewer system. Some people prefer moving the product outside and hosing it off.
Normal household vinyl cleaners may be used to increase longevity and to remove stubborn debris. Certain automotive vinyl
products may cause surface to become slippery. Use a non-slip vinyl protector such as a clean-and-shine floor cleaner.
This is not a stain-proof productcertain dyes, inks, rubber tires, and chemicals may cause permanent staining.
Some of our customers have reported that spray-on Brake and Tool Cleaner, found in many auto parts stores,
will remove some stubborn stains without damaging the product. However, use of brake and tool cleaner may
cause product discoloration. Never use harsh chemicals such as tar remover or kerosene on this product.
After cleaning, apply a coat of floor polish for vinyl floors to add a long-lasting, high-luster finish, even to older garage floor protectors.
NOTE:
Leaving chemicals on the product for a long period of time may cause damage. If concrete floor has been treated
with certain sealers prior to mat installation, sealer may break down over time and adhere to back of mat without
causing damage to mat. Some motorcycle kickstands may cut or damage this product.
CAUTIONSAFETY WARNINGCAUTION Any floor surface can become slippery in the presence of moisture and debris.
Proper care and cleaning of vinyl flooring will reduce the likelihood of slips and falls.
Wipe up any oil, chemicals, or other fluids that may drip or leak from vehicle to prevent
hazardous, slippery conditions. Always dispose of hazardous materials properly.
